The Super Swimmers Academy (SSA) is part of NAS Bristol branch and is Bristol's only swimming club exclusively for autistic children. There are two sessions, ‘Splash and Play’; a fun swimming session for the whole family; or bespoke bite-sized lessons taught by our team of wonderful, qualified swimming instructors following the STA Rockhopper Series.

We are seeking volunteers to become part of the SSA team, to help with the organisation, admin and to attend the monthly sessions

What you will be doing

  • Managing waiting lists- Entering details of current Splash and Play and SSA members onto a Microsoft Team channel
  • Writing and responding to emails currently in the SSA email account e.g. sending registration forms and contacting waiting list applications when spaces become available
  • Being a point of contact for current Super Swimmers -Via email, posting events and achievement via SSA Facebook page
  • Helping to organise the swimmers on the evening by putting them into the appropriate Rockhopper STA level group. Making the list of the groups and the times for the evening by working with the swimming instructors informing them of their groups
  • Printing out of certificates and ordering badges
  • After the session communicating any info to parents. Managing any absences
  • Sorting out the evening’s finances

  • Friendly and approachable manner
  • Reliable
  • Good organisational skills
  • Accurate record keeping
  • Able to communicate clearly and confidently both in person and by email
  • Aware of importance of managing money safely and accurately
  • A commitment to the branch for a least 18 months

When and where

Homebased with flexibility on days and the amount of time committed to the role, this can fit round other commitments you may have.

It would normally be around 2 hours a week. The volunteer would also need to attend the swimming session once a month at Easton Leisure Centre, Bristol.
