Governors for Schools is an education charity with the remit to recruit, train and place skilled and committed volunteers as governors around England and Wales.

Our services are free to both schools and volunteers and our vision is to ensure every school in England and Wales have a diverse and effective governing board that not only drives school improvement but also represents the student body and acts in their best interests. In the past year alone, we have successfully placed over 1,900 volunteers!

Being a governor is an excellent opportunity for individuals to support their community in a meaningful way, whilst also gaining valuable professional experience and developing new skills by participating in board level decision making and developing community networks. The average Governor dedicates 6-7 hours per month on their duties and governor meetings are usually held in the evenings to fit alongside peoples professional and personal responsibilities.

When:

Governor Meetings are predominantly in the evenings on weekdays
