If so, we would love you to be a part of our amazing Young Lives vs Cancer Good Books Campaign.

You will be a key part of a small team administering a campaign that has generated £35 000 in previous years giving you a real insight into organising a charity fundraising campaign.  You will be developing your research and analysis skills, growing your confidence and building your communication skills as you collaborate with other teams to help ensure the success of the campaign.

What you’ll be doing

Young Lives vs Cancer’s Good Books Campaign” is a unique 7-day eBay auction that runs during World Book Day. This year it falls on 3rd March with our auction running from 28th February to 6th March. The auction gives readers the chance to bid to become a named character in their favourite authors’ books. Alongside this we also offer a high number of signed books and where possible offer personalised inscriptions.

The campaign raises thousands of pounds for Young Lives vs Cancer and we’re looking to build on this success by building relationships with new authors along with developing relationships with illustrators and potentially extending the reach of the campaign to including characters in gaming.

You will be working closely with the online retail team researching popular fiction authors and publishers and building on the current database for approaches for the campaign.

  • Researching successful book bloggers to aid in promoting the campaign on social media.
  • Maintaining contact information, correspondence and sales information on a master spreadsheet
  • Exploring links with the gaming community and the potential for developing characters with local game makers.
  • Assisting with listings on eBay in the run up to the auction

You will need some basic IT skills and be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and enjoy being part of team.

This role is very flexible either based in our warehouse in Filton BS34 7JU or alternatively homeworking with visits into the warehouse as and when required.

We would like you to commit to 6 hours per week building up to 12 hours per week during the launch of the campaign.

Exact times and days can be flexible to suit your other commitments.

We will provide full training for the role and the support of a dedicated volunteer manager.

Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed on production of a receipt.
