Milestones Trust is a health and social care charity supporting people with learning disabilities, mental health needs and dementia. The Trust provides residential, nursing and community support services to around 750 people living in the Bristol, South Gloucestershire, and North Somerset areas.
A person we support in one of our learning disability residential services is looking for a volunteer to read and chat with. The person lives with autism and learning disabilities, is non-verbal and non-tactile.
Can you help?
We are looking for someone who is friendly, confident, sociable, and imaginative. As they are non-tactile, we are looking for someone who could sit next to but not too close to them. Ideally this would be a weekly volunteer role, or as often as volunteers are able to commit.
We can cover travel and some activity expenses. This is a role based in the service where this person lives.
For all our volunteer roles a DBS check will be carried out and we will request two references. All volunteers can attend an in-person volunteer induction and we offer online training alongside this. You will be supported by both the volunteer team and a member of staff in the service too.
