We are looking for several volunteers to become railway guards. This will involve training before you are qualified for the role, as it is a safety critical role.

This covers the operation of the steam train at M Shed. Members of the public can travel on the train and the guard is responsible for the safe operation of the train and safety of the passengers.

This is a seasonal role that lasts from February to the end of October.

Shifts are flexible, but we would like a minumum commitment of 2 days per month at weekends and bank holidays.

It's an active role that involves climbing on and off the train and keeping on the move. Confidence to deal with the public, ability to focus on the task at hand and ignore distractions is paramount.

You'll be invited in for an inital discussion to see if you meet the requirements for the role, and find out more about how it works.

Tea and coffee available for volunteers, and possibility to explore other opportunities at the M Shed if you are interested.
