We're looking for friendly people to who love to chat! Help us to run an informal conversation club for adults who don’t speak English as their first language to practice their English speaking. The club will start in September.
Connect Lockleaze coordinates training opportunities for adults at community venues in Lockleaze. We work with a wide range of people and we have found that many within this community do not speak English as their first language and are keen to improve their English skills to live the best they can in Bristol.
Location: The Old Library, Lockleaze
Days/times: Thursday afternoons, 1:15 - 3:15pm

Tasks and responsibilities:
- Working in a team to facilitate the weekly conversation club sessions
- Welcoming members and introducing conversation topics
- Steering discussions appropriately and encouraging all members to participate
- Running speaking and listening activities
- Signposting members to appropriate ESOL provision and community facilities
Experience and skills:
- Fluent English
- Reliable and organised
- Good communication skills
- Able to use your initiative and work as part of a team
- Understanding of the needs of people of diverse backgrounds beginning to learn English as a second language
- A commitment to promoting social cohesion and to working with respect for diverse cultures.
