What is the Love Squad?
In 2024, Europe’s largest ballooning event, the Bristol Balloon Fiesta (held for 3 days from 9th -11th of August) is giving us the incredible opportunity to share the love with over 100,000 fiesta visitors.
Love Squared puts love right at the heart of all we do, and we want to put love into the heart of the Balloon Fiesta too. But to do this, we really need some help!
Why should you join us?
The more people we share our love with, the more money we can raise to put love and nurture back into the heart of mental health services, such as providing more listeners for teenagers in crisis, more mentoring sessions for children experiencing social isolation, or more holiday activities for children with complex mental health and special educational needs.
What we need you do to
- Help to run our love letter station and other activities.
- Greet visitors to the Fiesta with a massive smile and a collection bucket encouraging them to support Love Squared with a donation or by visiting our space in the trader’s area.
- Take photos of visitors in our very own balloon basket, where they can get a taste of the experience and the opportunity to enter a prize draw to win a real balloon flight.
What will you get in return?
- An induction to Love Squared, why we are needed and how the charity is driving transformational change for children, young people and their families in Bristol.
- Flexible volunteering slots throughout the weekend that suit your skills and abilities, and the time that you’re able to spare during the Balloon Fiesta.
- Car parking in the crew parking area (though this is limited, so we’ll be encouraging you to lift share as much as possible).
- A safe space to store your belongings and light refreshments during your volunteering shift.
- Expenses to cover the cost of travel, if this would otherwise be prohibitive to participation.
