Changes Bristol are looking for new volunteers for our LGBTQIA+ online Peer Support group:
Tuesday evenings
We want to create a safe space for all LGBTQIA+ people to join and have the opportunity to talk about their mental health, their wellbeing and their experiences.
It is important to note that our services are for people aged 18 and over.
Understanding and navigating your sexual orientation or gender can be a very challenging thing for anyone and differnt people will be at differnt stages in this process.
We believe that everyone deserves an opportunity to have someone to talk to and though we are all invividuals with unique experiences, we are part of a community.
If you can spare around 2.5 hours on a Tuesday evening and you are interested in supporting others, we'd love to hear from you.
Facilitating is an extremely rewarding role. We will provide full training before you begin and regular supervision once you begin. After fully completing the training, you will be expected to commit approximately 2.5 hours of your time, the same time every week. We need volunteers to be dependable and committed when taking on the role.
As we operate from a model of peer support, we value lived experiences of mental health challenges, so while this is not a requirement for the role, it can be to your advantage when running the groups.
This is an LGBTQIA+ group and therefore, we would really like to hear from people within this community. We do have other peer support groups within our organisation and our Befriending service which you can apply for should you wish to volunteer with us in another way.
We highly recommend that throughout the training process (and, if possible, before you start training), you attend a group/ groups so you can get used to being part of them and understand how facilitation works.

If you have availability and can reliably commit to facilitating a group, please email us at service@changesbristol.org.uk to ask for a LGBTQIA+ facilitator application form.
Please also let us know if you have any questions.
