We are delighted to be collaborating with Bristol's very own Lamplighter Arts CIC.
Come and join us for this exciting opportunity to learn from them how to create lanterns.
Each of us will create a placard-style lantern with your personal message about CARE for the lantern procession on Saturday 22 March.
What is it that decision makers and employers need to know about care? What change do you & your loved ones need to thrive? What do you want to express to celebrate carers and caregivers?
What to expect:
- Work with Bristol's very own LampLighters Arts who will teach you how to create a 2D illuminated protest/placard lanterns
- Explore what CARE means to you & us together
- Your humour, disappointment, fierceness, sorrow, rage, wild imagination of a better world, your creativity, your asks and demands are welcome
- Coffee/tea and light snacks
- All materials provided, no previous experience needed
We know that care is often unseen, invisible and undervalued. All of us have been and will be in need of care at some point in our lives. Giving and receiving care is part of what it means to be human. Care is the backbone of society.
This workshop is part of an 8-workshop series leading up to the 'Shine a Light on Care' Lantern procession in Central Bristol, Saturday 22 March 2025,6.30pm - 8.30pm.
We will gather in fierce beauty to raise awareness of the importance and value of care.
The Lantern Procession will be a peaceful, beautiful and family friendly event with performances, lanterns with women's messages, large figurines wearing dressed printed with women's messages, invitation to sing, finding and representing strength in togetherness. We will be seen!
This event is part of the Caring Economy Campaign: https://www.bristolwomensvoice.org.uk/caring-economy/
