We are looking for kitchen assistants that want to help cook a meal for the children that attend our sessions.
The shifts during the holidays are: Monday-Friday from 10-2pm (so you can choose which day(s) you would be available) or term time: Tuesdays or Thursdays from 3-6pm.
During the shift you will receive an induction of the space and of the kitchen and usually will be in the kitchen with another 2-3 volunteers. We will aim to have volunteers present that have been volunteering for a while to lead.
Volunteering in the kitchen often involves: cutting, grating, boiling or baking and then serving food at 12 (holidays) or 5pm (term time) and then washing up (with the support of a dishwasher and the children try to pre-wash their plates). Our usual recipes are based on what has been donated and what children tend to like eating which is: jacket potatoes, fish fingers, potato wedges, pasta bakes, currys, stir fry or any other recipe you might enjoy making!
During the shift you can help yourself to some tea, coffee, or squash and breaks when you need them. We also try to make enough food so that staff and volunteers can enjoy some too.
Attached is our volunteer forms that we ask all of our volunteers to complete before the shift. If you prefer a printed version we could give you one here too.
If you have any more questions please visit us or call me on: 07720098879.
Thanks!
