We’re looking for a new Chair to join our Board who shares our values and our vision for a world where refugees, asylum seekers and those with insecure immigration status are welcomed with sanctuary and justice, have their needs met and their ambitions realised, and develop the power to build the lives they choose.
What’s involved:
- Around 4 hours per month.
- Candidates must have the capacity to commit sufficient time to fulfil the responsibilities of the role, including board meeting attendance and regular support and line management of the CEO.
- Trustees play a key role in supporting the strategic direction, governance, and sustainability of Borderlands and the Chair will be responsible for steering the board and driving collective decision making.
- The Chair occasionally acts as a figurehead for the charity, for example, in strategic meetings with the Local Authority and with other Chairs of other charities in the Bristol area to coordinate around common objectives.
- Additional time may be required during periods of organisational development or strategic change.
- Administrative and staff support will be available to the Chair.
Who we’re looking for: In particular, we’re keen to hear from those with expertise in the following areas: charity governance, strategic fundraising/philanthropy and organisational leadership.
We welcome applications from people with a wide range of backgrounds and value lived experience of the asylum process as a significant added value on the Board.
We recognise the strength and benefits of co-leadership and are open to applicants who are interested in co-chairing our board.
