Job Description
We are looking for jewellery lovers with an eye for the sparkly things. To help us sort and process jewellery donations for sale on the shop floor. No prior experience is necessary, we’ll teach you everything you need to know.
We have put in place strict measures to ensure our working environment is as safe as possible for our team. With our online shop you will not be facing members of the public and will not be on the shop floor during your shift. PPE and cleaning equipment is available, quarantine and distancing measures are in place and full training will be provided on shop safety procedures.
During these uncertain times Oxfam’s work to tackle global poverty is more vital (and more challenging) than ever before. Can you help us raise money to support and empower some of the world’s most vulnerable communities?

We believe in empowering our volunteers so, depending on your interests and what you would like to get out of the role, you can get involved with any of the following aspects of running the online shop:
- Sort jewellery donations as they are received.
- Price and display jewellery.
- Identify precious metals and separate from costume pieces.
- Find creative uses for broken or damaged pieces.
What we can offer:
- A warm and friendly welcome
- A relaxed, low-pressure working environment.
- Training and experience.
- References for future employment
- Re-imbursement of all travel expenses.
- A sense of pride in your work
- The ability to make a direct contribution and to see the results of your work.
Oxfam's core values are empowerment, inclusiveness and accountability, and we stand by these in all aspects of our work. When you volunteer with us you will have the opportunity to develop your skills (and enhance your CV) and bring your own ideas into the shop.
What our team have to say about working at the shop:
“Oxfam has given me my first relevant volunteering experience – I’ve learnt about a range of different items as well as how an organisation works – and it gives me a chance each week to switch my focus away from uni work!”
“You come across lots of interesting items, but it can be a thrill when you find something rare or out of the ordinary”
“I’ve been here for four years and I love it – very friendly team, very varied – dealing with high end clothing, antiquarian books, household items and much more – it’s great to find new homes for unwanted goods”
What we ask for:
- Enthusiasm and interest in jewellery.
- A willingness to learn and to work within Oxfam's core values.
- A minimum commitment of a 4-hour shift per week.
- A commitment to abide by all shop health and safety processes.
What your help will enable us to do:
More effectively sell our wonderful jewellery donations, we receive large numbers of donations every week, we need help sorting and pricing our jewellery, beads and gems to help make sure we get the most money possible to fight poverty. We need to also ensure we identify precious metals such as silver and gold to make larger contributions for our cause.
The retail sector is facing an unprecedented challenge and Oxfam’s trading team is no exception. At the same time, Covid 19 has added immense pressure to the world’s most vulnerable people, making Oxfam’s work even more vital. We still have a long way to go. Can you help us raise as much as we can to continue our work this year? We won't live with poverty. If you feel the same way we would love to work with you!
