Are you a person with the highest levels of integrity and accountability?

Can you bring fresh and analytical thinking to two key public service organisations and speak your mind openly? Do you have a strong commitment to public service?

An opportunity has arisen for an independent Chair for the Joint Audit Committee (JAC). The Chair of the JAC is responsible for providing leadership to the JAC for the purpose of it effectively setting and discharging the JAC Terms of Reference.

The JAC is an important, independent means of enhancing public trust and confidence in the governance of the Office of the PCC (“OPCC”) and Avon & Somerset Police. It also assists the Police & Crime Commissioner (PCC) in discharging statutory responsibilities in holding the Police Force to account.

As part of this role, you will be examining inspection reports, by internal and external auditors, on matters including governance, key systems of control, asset management, people, data management and finance within these two organisations. You will also be directly advising the PCC and Chief on risk management. Therefore, experience and understanding of risk management and audit activity would be particularly valuable.

The term period for this appointment is four years with an option for a second term of 4 years, to be mutually agreed.

You will be required to attend four audit committee meetings a year and you will be provided with expert training and a full induction to the Office of the Police Crime Commissioner and the Constabulary.
