Be a part of an amazing group of women supporting women.
Womankind is an established charity helping hundreds of women every year to improve their mental health and wellbeing. Our wonderful volunteers are the backbone of our organisation. We need you!
Whether you‘re looking for job experience, a sense of community, to learn or develop new skills, or just because you are passionate about helping other women…
Helpline Volunteers
Our Helpline volunteers offer confidential listening support (via telephone and webchat) to any woman on any issue, including domestic and sexual abuse and mental health issues. Volunteers commit to one 3-hour Helpline shift per week once they have completed our comprehensive training programme. You will also have weekly support from the service coordinator and monthly group supervision with your fellow volunteers.
Please note you will need access to a safe, confidential space to take calls from at your home as you may be starting your helpline shifts whilst we are still working remotely. Once it is safe to do so, you will be able to come ot our main offices to take helpline calls.
What you will need - excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to listen to others, non-judgmental attitude, the ability to empathise with others, commitment, consistency, reliability and patience.
