Hannah More is a mid-sized primary school situated in central Bristol. Its vision is of a dynamic, engaged and thriving community that inspires ambition, pride and success in every child. The School serves a diverse student population and works hard to maintain and grow its close ties to the local community. The school’s governing body, staff and pupils are committed to its values of Determination, Openness, Nurture, Enjoyment and Respect.  We believe they will foster a positive climate and thus ensure successful learning. They underpin much of the way we assess our own performance and then inform our plans.

  • The Governing Body of Hannah More Primary School is seeking up to three people to join its governing body
  • These are voluntary, unpaid roles that most people find very satisfying.
  • Governors will help support the school in offering its pupils an outstanding education within a positive, nurturing environment.
  • The time commitment is a minimum of one two-hour meeting in the afternoon of every school term

We are looking for individuals who are keen to help the school achieve its high ambitions and we warmly welcome applications from persons from diverse backgrounds.

We would particularly welcome applications from women, to improve the gender balance on the Governing Body.

We would be delighted to hear from anyone who:

  • Is interested in children’s education and the performance of the school
  • Has spare time and the energy for the role
  • Is able to work well as part of a team
  • Has an enquiring mind and the confidence to ask questions and debate issues that affect the school

Although not essential, it would be helpful if you had one or more of the following skills:

  • ties to our local community
  • experience on other boards or committees
  • understanding of primary school curriculum
  • interest in becoming the Chair of the governing body (either immediately or in the future)
  • understanding of finances and how to measure financial performance
  • experience in marketing, particularly digital marketing

If you feel you would like to find out more about this vital role for our school, do get in touch with Ms. Robin Geller (member of the Governing Body and Chair of the Nominations Committee) or Sue Ramsay (Headteacher) at head.hannah.more.primary.p@bristol-schools.uk.

To confirm your interest in serving on the governing body, please send a copy of your c.v. as well as a letter explaining your interest to Ms Robin Geller at robingeller27@gmail.com.

The deadline for applications is May 7 and interviews, if needed, will take place later in the month of May.

When :

Ends 07th May 2021

Meetings of the governing body take place every term, in the afternoon, and last about two hours.
