With over 100 years of Scouting heritage in St Andrews and Bishopston, 63rd Bristol Scouts is now home to more than 300 young people and over 30 dedicated volunteer leaders. We are proud to be one of the largest and most active Scout Groups in the UK.
Our vibrant community of Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts meets regularly in the heart of St Andrews and Bishopston. Our Scout Hut is a true community hub, also welcoming Girl Guides and a variety of local and private groups who use the space throughout the week.
The Group Lead Volunteer leads the adult team. It's a leadership and people role, not a weekly session-leader role with the young people. Think "people person" more than "outdoor expert". In a typical month it means a few one-to-one chats with section leaders, a Group leadership meeting, sitting in on the occasional section night, and helping the trustees and section teams pull in the same direction.
If you've managed a team at work, run a community group, or led people through change, you already have most of what we need. Full training and support come with the role. Prior Scouting experience is not required, nor is having a child at 63rd. The role can be shared between two people if that suits.
The easiest first step is an informal chat. No commitment, no application form, just a conversation. Please contact us directly at volunteer@63rdbristolscouts.org.uk
