Firstly, thank you for having interest in volunteering for our charity. Pauls Place is a small local charity who enhances life for physically disabled adults with cognitive or sensory impairment.
We are looking for a Gardener who will give our sensory garden some well deserved TLC and create a space that is welcoming, do you have a passion for Gardening you would like to share?
Do you have - ‘joy, patience, commitment, understanding, a fun-loving nature” as special request by our members!
We provide social activities that connect people, reduce isolation, improve health and wellbeing, and give people the opportunity to develop new skills, such as gardening, enjoy new experiences and live life to the full.
We are looking for a volunteer to create a Garden our members can enjoy, help support us in this and also provide recreational activities for example, our members would love to help in planting seeds, pruning, watering and Painting Plant pots.
Volunteering will involve being on site to assist our members in the Sensory Garden and the rest of the team, as well as being in the garden alone to keep up with weeding and progression of plants.
To listen and talk to members and to support individuals taking part in the garden activities we hold at the day faciality.
Encourage member’s interests and passion for gardening.
You will need to:
- To assist members in achieving outcomes by gardening
- To create a welcoming area in the sensory garden by upkeeping the garden and providing a safe area for members to enjoy
- To understand the issues that can affect the disabled community.
- To be a good listener with a friendly and approachable personality and a warm manner.
- To be keen to find out about members; their interests and hobbies and discuss them.
- To have a caring nature; be patient; respectful and have good empathy skills.
- To be able to give at least a morning or afternoon of your time a month.
- To a commitment to volunteering with us for at least 3/6 months.
By becoming a Paul’s Place volunteer, you will make a real difference to someone’s life whilst gaining skills and experience, developing friendships, and having a rewarding role.
We provide an induction and all necessary training for Free and when completed you will receive all the certificates, and we support you throughout your volunteering by providing supervisions.
Please note, for all our volunteer roles a DBS check will be carried out and references will be taken.
