Empower people to share our stories and raise awareness of Guide Dogs, while raising vital funds at the same time. The role is flexible to suit your availability, skills and interests, allowing you to support a team of like-minded people to come together, and raise awareness by organising activities from book sales to quizzes, and ’make a cuppa count’ to murder mystery events. Be a part of a team that empowers Guide Dogs to help people with sight loss live actively, independently, and well.

What you’ll be doing

Make this flexible role your own, supporting your local group in the areas that most interest you, you certainly don’t have to do it all. We would welcome your support in one or more of the following areas:

  • Bring people together, and welcome new volunteers, asking for their support for upcoming events.
  • Be the main point of contact for the volunteers in the group, helping to share updates and information with others.
  • Creating a plan of activities or collections in the local community.
  • Take a lead on events or collections.
  • Get to know the community, schools or local businesses, to make great relationships and raise awareness of Guide Dogs.
  • Help others in the group to make their events successful, by providing hands-on support or guidance.
  • Be part of the team that helps events run smoothly.
  • Share our stories through conversations with other volunteers and members of the public.

What you’ll get

  •  Knowing you are supporting people with sight loss to live actively, independently, and well.
  • Satisfaction from giving back with your skills and experience.
  • The opportunity to be part of the local Guide Dogs Community, meeting like-minded people in your area and members of the public.
  • Being part of a team, celebrating successful local events and collections.
  • A dedicated volunteer manager and wider team who will help support your volunteering.

Training and support

Fundraising Group Coordinators will be given the training needed to get started. This includes attending a live virtual session (other formats are available if not suitable), with the chance to meet other Fundraising Group Coordinators and ask questions. If you have questions about the training requirements or accessibility, we’ll be happy to discuss these.

Will I have to pay?

Volunteering for Guide Dogs should never leave you out of pocket. We’ll pay any expenses related to volunteering with us, including travel costs.
