acta Community Theatre is an eighty seat theatre in Bedminster, Bristol - nestled between North Street and West Street. As an organisation, we work to bring together people from different cultures, experiences, and generations to make and share creative work - with a focus on drama. Our community drama groups, made up of folks that need help to access theatre, create their own plays as a team and perform them to the public. We keep our ticket prices as low as possible in order to share the experience of going to a theatre show with as many people as we can.
We are seeking Front of House volunteers who can:
Give a warm welcome to our valued audiences
Help people with access needs to their seats
Be non-judgemental
Help hand out programmes
Help sell ice creams
Encourage visitors to fill out audience surveys
We have about twenty five performances a year - fairly unevenly distributed - so this opportunity is perfect for someone who wants to volunteer but isn't looking for a regular commitment. Almost all of our shows are in the evenings, or at weekends. The slots are around two and a half hours long - and most of that would be sitting in the theatre and enjoying the production!
The atmosphere is very friendly - you will get to know the regular faces and feel part of the heart of the Bedminster community. We make sure there is always a seat for you at shows so you can see every performance.
Please do get in touch - we are keen to hear from people of all ages and backgrounds.
