We are looking for capable volunteers to support our Saturday Club and Holiday Clubs. Volunteers must enjoy spending time outdoors and working with children. Previous experience working with children is desirable but training will be given.
Our Holiday Clubs run from 9:30am to 3pm and Saturday Club run from 10am to 12pm.
As a child led educational provision no day is quite the same as another. We offer children an opportunity to take risks, build confidence and self esteem, as well as make new friends. Volunteers are expected to support the Forest School Leads with the delivery of planned activities, manage resources and promote positive behaviour. Volunteers will supervise children with the activities they have chosen, including high risk activities such as fire starting or tool use. Volunteers will be expected to work outdoors no matter the weather, take initiative and work well with team members.
Volunteers will always work under the supervision of a Forest School Lead. All candidates must undergo a DBS check and be willing to commit to a munimum of 4 months volunteering (this may be bi-weekly for Saturday Club). Volunteers will always be expected to work within the Health and Safety and Safeguarding Policies (among others).
At Back2Basics our volunteers are very important to us and we support them with on the job training, as well as a friendly and supportive environment. This role would particularly suit anyone who has retired from education related employment or students looking to begin a career in education.
