We are very excited about this collaboration between Bristol City Council’s Community learning team and the Community Centre and and to be able to provide one of the most rewarding volunteering opportunity in Bristol. We are looking for community-focused volunteers who speak English to help run our English Conversation Club. They give people who don’t speak English as a first language a chance to practice in a relaxed, fun setting.
Hours: 1 hour. Wednesdays 1.30pm – 2.30pm. Plus training.
Minimum commitment: 4 months.
Expenses: This is a voluntary role and volunteer expenses will be covered (transport, lunch) in line with our policies.

- Language Proficiency: For this role, you will need to be able to confidently have day-to-day conversations with members of the public, although you don’t need any teaching experience.
Essential Tasks
- Welcoming people to the English Conversation Club
- Using games and strategies you will learn at training to encourage conversation among members
- Help promote the English Conversation Club
Other Tasks
- If interested and relevant, signpost attendees to other services at the community centre and beyond.
