Ready, Willing & Able is SeeAbility’s supported employment programme. Our programme supports people with learning disabilities and autism to achieve their employment ambitions. We support people to seek and secure paid employment. We work with employers to ensure inclusive recruitment practices which offer people with learning disabilities and autism the best opportunity to showcase their talents and skills.  We work alongside both our participants and employers to support our participants in the workplace.

Our programme is seeking employers in the Bristol and South Gloucestershire area who are committed to developing truly inclusive workspaces and are open to offering paid employment opportunities for the participants on our programme. Your volunteer role will be to engage and convert employers into partners for the programme, supporting our coaches in driving engagement with potential employers and increasing awareness of employing people with learning disabilities and autism.

Your role

We are looking for an Employer Engagement Volunteer who will share our values, embrace the notion of a diverse workforce, and is passionate around inclusion. That person will share our belief that paid work is positive and possible for everyone and will work to source new opportunities from a wide range of employers from a variety of work sectors.

You will also:

  • Proactively seek employers who may be open to either employing participants on our programme or partnering with us to create inclusive workplaces for people with learning disabilities and autism.
  • Engage directly with employers around the benefits of employing people with learning disabilities and autism.
  • Work with he supported employment coaches to cultivate those relationships moving forward so participants can be placed in paid employment with these organisations.

Skills required

  • A knowledge of the local job market in Bristol and South Gloucestershire.
  • The ability and confidence to ‘sell’ the benefits of supported employment to employers.
  • To be proficient in Microsoft Office software and web searches.
  • To be able to use MS Teams and Zoom for video calls etc.
  • To be reliable and consistent.

To ensure the safety of the people we support, we require a DBS check and two satisfactory references before a volunteer role is confirmed. As you will be volunteering directly with vulnerable individuals, you will also be required to undertake safeguarding training, as well as any training which is specific to the role.

Please note that you will need to be over the age of 18 in order to apply for this role.
