About Us

Here at Bristol Cycling Centre we are passionate about helping people, no matter age or ability, to enjoy cycling in a safe, traffic-free environment. We run a variety of sessions for the public, schools and do events with other organisations and charities. Some of these sessions include Learn to Ride, Family Disability Sessions, and Bikeability Level 1 and 2 courses.

Weekends and school holidays are devoted to public sessions, and often are our busiest days. Due to our focus on our riders, every day is different! Quiet days create the opportunity to do other jobs such as bike repairs and site maintenance.

Role

Are you eager to help people? Interested in cycling? Keen to gain some new skills?

We are looking for dedicated and outgoing volunteers to help us in creating a welcoming, fun and inclusive environment. Your main aim will be to support us to run our public sessions, working alongside a hard-working team of qualified Instructors and Operational Staff.

We need you to…

  • Have good communication skills and be able to adapt to different communication styles.
  • Be able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Be friendly, welcoming and inclusive.

Time Commitment

This volunteering opportunity is offered for saturdays and sundays 9:30-12:30am.

We aim to get to know you and what aspect of the centre you enjoy, and will assign you to tasks best suited to areas you want to learn more about or increase your skill in.

This Volunteering Role will Involve:

  • Working alongside qualified Instructors and helping them lead sessions.
  • Getting bikes out and session set-up.
  • Learning how and helping to, identify the correct bike for adult riders and getting them fitted.
  • Clearing the track of bikes and obstacles at the end of each session.
  • Making drinks for customers.
  • Being a friendly face to welcome our guests, and most of all encouraging our riders!
  • On quiet days we may ask you to help with site maintenance or basic bike repairs.

We will provide:

  • The opportunity to gain knowledge on basic bike repairs.
  • Experience working with children and vulnerable adults.
  • Support and basic training where appropriate, to develop your own skills in the areas you would like to focus on.
  • Hot drinks and snacks.
  • A safe space to volunteer.

Not only would you be a great help to us, but we want to help you too! If there’s a specific part of the centre you want to learn more about or specific skills you want to gain, let us know and we will do our best to help!
