Can you donate a few hours to support vulnerable people in the event that the Trust faces staffing difficulties this winter due to the pandemic?
Milestones Trust is a health and social care charity supporting people with learning disabilities, mental health needs and dementia. The Trust provides residential, nursing and community support services to around 750 people living in the Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset areas – so there is a good chance there is a service in walking/cycling distance from you!
Role
You would be involved in basic tasks supporting individuals with everyday needs and activities in our care homes/supported living services, or might be asked to do tasks such as food shopping, picking up prescriptions, or delivering PPE to services. These might be regular tasks throughout the winter, or occasional or one offs.
Requirements
We are looking for volunteers who are:
- Caring
- Reliable
- Flexible
- Has own transport or willing to walk/cycle/take public transport if needed
No other particular skills are required but good communication, confidence and a desire to help people would be a great advantage.
We would provide the necessary training to make sure you are confident and safe carrying out this task. Regular supervision is also available for the volunteer.
Please note, due to the nature of the group of the people we support, a DBS check and reference checks will be carried out. All volunteers that visit care homes/CQC registered services are required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19, unless they have evidence that they are medically exempt from the requirement, as set out in DHSC Guidance on mandatory vaccination.
If this sounds like something you would like to get involved in please get in touch, we would love to hear from you.
