Lush Greens is a flourishing community market garden (small farm) in Hengrove, Bristol. We are a not-for-profit social enterprise, who collaborate with volunteers from our local community to collectively help tackle food insecurity and champion food justice in our local area.
The veg and fruit we grow together goes to local food poverty charities, such as InHope's Foodbanks, FOOD Clubs, other community organisations including Redcatch Community Garden and The Mazi Project, and to members of our Community Supported Agriculture veg box scheme using a pay-what-you-can-afford model.
We run regular volunteer days, open days and seasonal festivals. We deliver Green Social Prescribing to help improve peoples' physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. This year we are working with our local primary school to deliver learning opportunities for their students on the farm.
We work the land growing vegetables and fruit using no-dig and organic principles that improve the health of soil, plants and people: increasing biodiversity in and above the soil; capturing carbon; and creating healthy ecosystems. Through climate and nature friendly farming techniques we aim to regenerate the health of the land we work on and the community we work with.
