Job Description: Community Manager (Volunteer Manager)

Role Overview
We are seeking a warm, organised, and community-driven Community Manager (Volunteer Manager) to nurture and coordinate our wonderful team of volunteers. This role is essential to building a reliable, joyful, and effective volunteer collective that feels deeply connected to the RGC mission. You will be the key liaison between our volunteer team and core staff, ensuring every volunteer is valued, well-supported, and aligned with our ethos.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cultivating the Collective
- Design and lead engaging onboarding and induction sessions for new and existing volunteers to ensure alignment with RGC’s values.
- Maintain a clear understanding of volunteer roles and projects, setting and monitoring weekly/monthly tasks.
- Develop and maintain a structure where volunteers know their roles, team members, and communication pathways.
- Support volunteer motivation and retention through regular check-ins and organising monthly appreciation events in collaboration with project managers.
- Ensure all volunteers embody the core ethos and values of RGC.
2. Management and Logistics
- Maintain an organised volunteer database detailing skills, availability, and preferences.
- Match volunteers strategically to roles such as social media, session assistance, fundraising, or event support.
- Create and manage rotas for wellbeing program volunteers and the wider RGC volunteer team.
- Serve as the main contact point between volunteers and the RGC core team to ensure smooth communication and resource coordination.
- Support ad hock comms and management to wider RGC network where required.
3. Safety and Feedback
- Establish clear, accessible channels for volunteers to raise concerns, share feedback, and communicate with leadership.
- Develop concise, role-specific briefs outlining tasks, time commitments, and required skills for all volunteer roles.
- Ensure volunteers are aware of safeguarding policies and know the proper reporting procedures.
- Adhere to all RGC policies, including safeguarding, code of ethics, and organisational guidelines.

- Experience managing or coordinating volunteers or community groups is a plus.
