Eastside Film Night: Rave on for the Avon

An event held at Easton Community Centre on Thursday 11th June. Doors are at 18:30 with the event starting at 19:00. The event finishes at 21:15.

Fall in love with the River Avon and the people fighting to protect it, the Bristol way. Rave On For The Avon is a feature-length documentary that follows campaigners and river lovers through six seasons: their highs and lows, love and loss.

Charlotte Sawyer is an award-winning Documentary Filmmaker and Photographer who captures cinematic stories that cross cultures and boundaries. With a First Class Degree in Law and Community Theatre, Charlotte combines community advocacy and facilitation skills with filmmaking to convey human-centred journeys.

For the past twelve years Charlotte has built trust with contributors in conflict zones and areas vulnerable to climate change, mostly notably Iraq, Ethiopia and Nigeria. As a Shooting Producer Director, Charlotte created feature-length documentaries used for advocacy with Oxfam Iraq and Surfers Against Sewage.

Charlotte's recent feature-length documentary Rave On For The Avon premiered at Kendal Mountain Festival. It has won Wildscreen Festival's Sustainability Merit Award and WOW Film Festival's Feature Documentary Audience Award from Wales' longest running film festival.

Her portfolio of short films for brands such as LUSH and Netflix, music documentaries, live shows and music videos and online campaigns for NGOs such as Fairtrade and Oxfam.

Charlotte has established Eighty Sita Productions with Co-Producer Aggie Nyagari and is currently based in Bristol, UK.
