As part of our support to asylum seekers living in the Holland House hotel in Redcliffe we hold weekly ‘cook up’ sessions at the Undercroft under St Mary Redcliffe Church. These sessions have proved popular and important to the families, who come from across the globe.
The ‘cook ups’ have enable families to cook and share familiar cultural dishes. Cooking is a big part of most cultures, so being able to feed your family with food that they know and enjoy is really important, especially for the children. The ‘cook ups’ have become a space where diverse families build relationships and get to know each other through their shared passion for food.
We are looking for one or two volunteers to welcome families as they come into the cooking session, support them with anything that they need and ensure that they keep to time and the rules of the kitchen.
In return we will pay travel expenses and it's likely you'll be rewarded with some delicious food!
