Hotwells and Cliftonwood Community Association Management Committee are looking for a new Chair.

The current Chair, Dennis Gornall, is standing down at the AGM in November.

These are exciting times with new opportunities arising from the Western Harbour Scheme, but also so many brilliant things happening now in this wonderful community that we can sustain and support.  Work on the Piazza, extending our volunteer activities and supporting local initiatives and communities.

We want an enthusiast to help develop a friendly and supportive committee concerned for the welfare of their neighbourhood.

Core job role.

  1. Provision of leadership to, and support of, members of the Management Committee (MC)
  2. Determining the agenda for meetings
  3. Chairing meetings including the AGM
  4. Reviewing draft minutes before sharing with the MC
  5. Write up and present the Chair’s report at the AGM
  6. Ensure, through the Treasurer, that the necessary financial records and details are maintained, that regular information is given to the MC and that the annual accounts are supplied for the AGM.
  7. Responding on behalf of HCCA to enquiries, complaints etc where this is felt more appropriate than coming from an MC member
  8. Ensuring that the Community Association retains its good standing with Bristol City Council and other relevant bodies. E.g. ensuring that links with Councillors, Council Officers and other leaders are maintained and developed as necessary

Profile.

  1. Lives in or close to the area (e.g. Hotwells, Cliftonwood, Clifton, Spike Island, Harbourside and Central area)
  2. Can demonstrate a commitment to Hotwells, Cliftonwood and Spike Island
  3. Experience of running a team
  4. Able to demonstrate leadership through motivation and inspiration
  5. Enthusiast who cares about the area that they live or perhaps used to work in.

N.B. Whilst we see all the above aspects of the profile as being preferable, being able to demonstrate a) or b) and c) or d) and e) will be essential.
