Role Title: Carers Breaks Volunteer
Responsible to: Carers Breaks Co-ordinator
Aim: Offer support to unpaid carers who live in South Gloucestershire to enable them to have a regular, short break
Main tasks and responsibilities:
Please note: Personal care and household tasks are NOT a requirement of this role
- Staying with the cared-for person in their own home, to enable the carer to take a break away from the house.
- Ensuring that the cared-for person is safe, comfortable and, if appropriate, has access to food and drink.
- Recording the number of hours/sits and miles travelled on a timesheet. Submitting it, as requested, to the Carers Break Co-ordinator.
- To contact the Carers Breaks Co-ordinator to provide feedback and updates on a regular basis or when requested.
- To carry out the responsibilities of the role with full regard to the Carers Support ‘Volunteer Policy’ and ‘Code of Conduct’.
- To provide two references from people who have known you for at least 2 years.
- To undertake a Disclosure and Barring (DBS) check before commencing the role.
- To complete a “Volunteer Induction” and commit to attending on-going training with Carers Support.
