About Bristol Local Food Fund

Bristol has an amazing food and drink culture, but 1 in 12 homes in the city struggles to access enough food to eat. This problem is called ‘food insecurity’.

There are so many brilliant community food projects in Bristol tackling food insecurity, but they need funding and support.

That’s why Bristol Local Food Fund exists. It’s a new fund for community food projects that are helping to build a fairer food system in our city.

The fund will prioritise people and communities that are most in need, giving access to good quality, affordable and culturally appropriate food.

The funds will be allocated by a Citizens Panel, made up of local people with experience of food insecurity.

In 2024, BLFF aims to raise £150,000 and we’ll be appealing to people and businesses across Bristol for support.

How the role fits in with the work of the organisation
The volunteer team will work closely together with the Project Manager/Founder to deliver the vital work of growing BLFF’s fundraising efforts, in order to reducing the impacts of food insecurity in communities that experience it most severely.

We will have a team catch up meeting online once a week Tuesdays 5.30 - 6.30pm to discuss, plan and agree our activities.

BLFF’s vision is to create a city where everyone can access good quality affordable food, regardless of their situation or background. The project is committed to supporting community food projects that help to tackle food insecurity and improve access to good quality, affordable food. BLFF recognises that structural inequalities - economic, ethnicity, ability, age, geography play a significant role in creating and sustaining disadvantage. BLFF will support diversity, equity and inclusion in all it’s work - and will be honest and open where the project falls short and make efforts to improve. We strongly welcome applications from people from a diversity of backgrounds, regardless of age, physical ability, ethnicity, gender, sex or educational background.
