Brislington Furniture & Home - building, repairing, testing stock 

Our Brislington Superstore stocks a mixture of donated and new furniture, homeware and small electricals.  

We're looking for volunteers to help to prepare our donated items for the shop floor. From upcycling and assembling furniture to testing out electrical items, there's something for everyone. It's a great way to meet new people, be environmentally conscious and engage with your local community.  

What will my role include? 

You may be involved in one task or a combination of different tasks. You can let us know what interests you.  

  • Preparing donated items for the shop floor  
  • Assembling and/or upcycling furniture  
  • Testing electrical items  
  • Keeping the stockroom and shop floor clean, tidy and well organised 

What qualities do I need?  

As a Superstore Volunteer you will be an ambassador for St Peter’s Hospice. You’ll need to be/have, or be keen to work towards the following:    

  • Good listening and communication skills 
  • Well presented, friendly and polite in a variety of situations 
  • Prepared to work alone and as part of a team 
  • Prepared to handle a variety of electrical items &furniture in a busy working environment 
  • Capable of dealing with small DIY tasks 
  • Physically fit enough to lift and move furniture 

You’ll need to be 18 or over to Volunteer in our Brislington Furniture & Home Superstore. 

How much time do I need to commit?  

We welcome any amount of time you can give us. Some volunteers will work a couple of hours a week, others might come in for 2 or 3 days. We can be flexible around your existing commitments. 

What support & training will I get? 

You will receive regular supervision, guidance and feedback from the Superstore Manager and Assistant Manager. You'll be working within the wider, friendly, SPH Retail team and there’s always someone around to ask for help.   

How do I get there?  

You’ll be based at 39 Brislington Hill, BS4 5BE. There’s a free carpark nearby, the Brislington Hill Shopper's Car Park. 

It’s a 15 – 20 minutes bus ride from Bristol Bridge. Hop on the X39, 349, 522 or 1.

Your details will be passed on to the Superstore manager who will get in touch to answer any questions you have and to book you in for a taster session.
