Help us bring the magic of reading to life! We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support children and their families through our Books for All programme.
Books for All is an after-school 30‑minute reading club designed for primary school pupils, who have English as an additional language. The club aims to create a warm, supportive space where children can grow in confidence, explore stories, and share books with their families and friendly volunteers.
We are looking for volunteers who can:
- Support children as they read and talk about books
- Encourage children to share stories with their families
- Help create a positive, welcoming reading environment
- Celebrate progress and build confidence in young readers
No previous experience is needed, just a love of books and a willingness to help children thrive. Ablaze will process DBS certificates for volunteers and run a short training session so you feel fully equipped for the programme.
When & Where:
We currently run the sessions in two Bristol Primary schools (Southmead & Easton). You can volunteer at one school or both! Ideally volunteers will be available for all sessions at their chosen school.
Southmead: Tuesdays | 3:30pm to 4:00pm (term-time only):
6th Oct / 13th Oct / 20th Oct / 3rd Nov / 10th Nov / 17th Nov / 24th Nov / 1st Dec

Your support will:
