Join us and Barton Hill Activity Club for our Bristol Community Festival event: an afternoon of fun for all ages, celebrating our local community through food, games and activities.

This will be an inclusive community event that involves creating a welcoming space where everyone feels comfortable to participate and share their experience. People from different backgrounds will be able to connect, meet with people from their neighbourhood, share experiences, and learn new skills that will help them get involved in the community and civic life of the city. We will run the event in collaboration with Barton Hill Activity Club (a local women led organisation) which has experience of running similar events. We will recruit volunteers from the local community to help organise and run the event. There will be skills building workshops on topics such as:

· How to Get Involved in Local Government

· Community Leadership & Volunteering

· Advocating for Your Neighbourhood

People will be invited to share their experiences in their neighbourhood. There will be games and activities for children.

There will be food from different cultural cuisines to celebrate cultural richness in our neighbourhood.

We are expecting to raise awareness about the issues that affect local people while connecting people to opportunities in their neighbourhood and encouraging them to share their personal and neighbourhood experiences. We are hoping the event to be a celebration event where people from different cultural backgrounds can meet and learn from each other, share insights and be motivated to get involved in shaping the future of their neighbourhood and issues facing their community. People will receive clear information on how residents can get involved in the future of their neighbourhood and different ways they can contribute, including surveys, focus groups, or attending public forums.

We also expect to raise awareness of opportunities available for local residents and how they can participate and make their voices heard.

This event has received funding from Bristol City Council to take part in Bristol Community Festival.
