Step and Stone are looking for a Volunteer who can use British Sign Language (BSL) to work alongside one of our wonderful Trainees.
This is an extremely engaging and rewarding role, where you will play a key part in enabling a young person with a hearing impairment and learning disability to progress into work and achieve his full potential. The role is ideal for someone who is qualified at either level 2 or 3 BSL, or has significant life experience using BSL.

Our Bristol based bakery makes handmade lavosh flatbreads with a social purpose. We work with young people with learning disabilities, helping to develop their skills and confidence so they can eventually find meaningful employment. About the role
The Volunteer will work in our bakery in Knowle, Bristol. This involves:
• Using BSL to facilitate communication with the young person, staff and other Trainees
• Supporting him to develop his learning and independence
• Monitor his progress and support staff to identify learning needs
What skills, experience and personal traits are we looking for?
This position would be ideal for someone with either Level 3 BSL or someone with Level 2 BSL looking to practice and develop their skills. We also welcome people who have a lot of experience using BSL but may not be qualified to get in touch.
Ideally, we are looking for someone who is available every Thursday between 10am and 2pm. However, if you are available on other days of the week then please do get in touch as the hours/days can be flexible.
Along with a sufficient level of BSL, we are looking for someone who is:
