We need a trustee with HR skills to join our board.
What does it involve?
You will need to spend about 5-8 hours a month to undertake the role of trustee. We expect trustees to attend a board meeting bi-monthly; that’s three a year on Wednesday evenings 6.30-9pm and three on Thursday mornings 9.30am-12 noon. If trustees cannot attend in person, they can attend remotely. In between board meetings you will need to respond to emails and read papers and perhaps attend another one or two other meetings or sit on an interview panel.
What HR skills are needed?
Responsibilities of the HR Trustee include chairing the board’s HR Group; supporting the recruitment, interviewing and appointment of staff; dealing with staff employment issues; keeping abreast of employment law; liaising closely with the board chair and staff manager; keeping the board advised as necessary.
What’s in it for you?
You can apply your existing HR skills and experience, giving back what you have learned along the way. For your own personal and career development, you can grow your experience and knowledge of the voluntary sector with training and the support of experienced board members. Our aim is that together we proactively encourage inclusion and equality through policies and service design, fair staff management and sustainable finances.
We encourage you to apply, if you are keen to...
- commit to supporting families with young children in and around Bristol
- play a dynamic role as part of a small team steering and sustaining the charity share your own skills and experience to improve our support to families
- learn along the way
- give your time voluntarily, i.e. unpaid, though agreed expenses will be reimbursed.
We want a more inclusive organisation.
We aim to be an equal opportunities organisation with an inclusive environment where all staff and volunteers are encouraged to contribute to their fullest potential.
We need a more diverse board.
We welcome applications from those who bring difference to our board. To improve our decisions and strengthen our organisation, we need your experience and your own unique perspective on what we do.
