We are looking for an Archive Volunteer/volunteers to join Bristol Music Trust as part of our Heritage Lottery Funded ‘Lantern Project’.
The Lantern Project is part of the redevelopment and transformation our second hall, the Lantern which is of significant historic interest and although in poor condition retains many Victorian features and details. The Lantern, built in the Victorian Byzantine style in 1873 is unique to Bristol. We have the opportunity of restoring this building, reinventing its use, celebrating its history and organising the archives.
Under the guidance of the Project Archivist, Archive Volunteers will carry out work on archival material connected with Bristol Beacon to discover and record interesting stories hidden there. This area of research focuses specifically on newspaper publications giving descriptive detail of performances and events at Bristol Beacon halls from the periods 1867 – 1898 and 1901-1919, particularly community events, such as bazars, charity concerts, flower shows etc. and the publications for the period that these would have featured within.
No specific prior experience is necessary as we will provide you with training and information for this role.
