Do you want to make a positive impact on the lives of those around you?
Are you looking to get more involved in your local community?
Do you enjoy working with people?
Then The Hive is the place for you!
We are very excited to announce that The Hive will be reopening on the 14th of September!
We are looking for volunteers to help at one drop-in session per week, with three volunteers needed for each session.
Sessions are Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday afternoons from 12:30pm-4pm, or Friday or Saturday mornings from 10am-1pm.
Our volunteers help to facilitate activities and engage adults with a learning disability and/or autism in social situations to increase confidence and self-esteem, build independence and reduce social isolation.
We have policy and practice in place to ensure everyone’s safety during these unprecedented times.
We know that your time is important, so we will work with you to ensure that you get the most out of your experience with us.
Flexible volunteering can be offered; however, it is essential that volunteers attend sessions that they are scheduled for to ensure the smooth and safe running of the drop-in.
Volunteers will be supported by the Session Leader who will also provide informal supervision on a regular basis. The Volunteer Coordinator can always be contacted for any issues.
Volunteers will receive initial induction and awareness training in learning disability and/or autism as well as ongoing training. Full liability insurance is in place. Mileage and other reasonable out-of-pocket expenses can be claimed. A work record will be kept for each volunteer so that we are able to provide references if requested.
