Paul’s Place is a charity that enhances life for physically disabled adults with cognitive or sensory impairment.
We do this by providing social activities that connect people, reduce isolation, improve health and wellbeing and give people the opportunity to develop new skills, enjoy new experiences and live life to the full.
We are currently looking for volunteers to help support us in this. We would like volunteers to come on site and help run and set up activity sessions. These can be based around volunteer's and members hobbies and can range from arts and crafts to music and drama workshops! The possibilities are endless!
The volunteer role will involve:
- volunteering remotely/on site to assist our members (the people who use our services) and the rest of the team.
- listening and talking to members to see how they are.
- encourage member’s interests and hobbies by discussing them.
- supporting individuals in being involved in the activities.
- provide practical support as the situation necessitates.
- attending supervision as required.
- attending an induction and any essential training (including mandatory safeguarding training and manual handling).
You will need to:
- to have an understanding of the issues that can affect the disabled community.
- to be a good listener with a friendly and approachable personality and a warm manner.
- be keen to find out about members; their interests and hobbies and discuss them.
- to have a caring nature; be patient; respectful and have good empathy skills.
- able to give at least a morning or afternoon of your time a month.
- a commitment to volunteering with us for at least 3/6 months.
- able to provide 2 references.
