My name is Mike Pearce and I am 41 year old male. I would describe myself as someone who is kind and respectful. Due to being diagnosed with Autism, I have had some difficulty with getting into the world of work. I receive financial support for my day to day life and therefore currently not in employment. However, in the past I’ve done volunteering work and I would like to bring back this aspect of my life again. With the help of my support worker, I seek to find a work environment that is welcoming, friendly and has an understanding of my diagnosis. I am someone who likes completing tasks when assigned. When it comes to large social settings and crowds, I tend to become uncomfortable however I am looking to improve on this by working in small group settings or in work environment where I am working in the back ground. I want to make new friends and connections through volunteering and also gradually build my work experience for when I am ready to get a part time job.
