My name is Freya, I am 29. Professionally I am a metalworker with 6 years of experience making made to measure products for artists, designers and architects using a variety of metals and materials. I moved to Bristol a couple of years ago and now that I am settled here I am keen to find a worthwhile place to volunteer my time within my community. I have done previous Volunteer work. In 2018 I spent nearly a year working as a volunteer for Samos Volunteers on the Greek island of Samos, providing support and services to the refugee population of the Reception and Identification Centre (RIC). I had an integral role in all of the organisations activities, my main role was managing the sole laundry service for the RIC, ensuring the smooth running of the laundry station, guaranteeing fair service. I was responsible for the maintenance of the machines, as well as managing communication with NGO's to prioritise laundry to the most vulnerable inhabitants of the RIC. Whilst on Samos I also volunteered the Berlin Refugee Law Clinic, translating (English/French) sessions between lawyers and asylum seekers, as well as with the organisation Still I Rise, where I taught guitar to the teenage students. A bit more about me- I love to garden, cycle, and I am passionate about bread baking. I’d love to get involved, contribute in a meaningful way, and learn more about all the great work happening in the Bristol community.
