Hello, my name is Molly. I’m a passionate, plant-based professional with a broad range of skills, all brought together by my love for nature, animals, wellness and creativity.
Arts Events Production
My experience in arts event production, general administration and project management will be of distinct advantage to your venture. I’m an independent video/film maker and artist working across disciplines, who has a particular passion for nature. I know I will thrive facilitating the smooth operation of your project because I have a vision of raising awareness, creating conversation and encouraging connection with the wider world of which we are a part.
I have a comprehensive and eclectic background that encompasses directing, designing and delivering arts events. This has included performances, workshops and festivals. Working in this capacity, as well as on my own self-initiated and freelance creative projects, has endowed me with a strong, concentrated and structural work ethic and I’m extremely good at managing time, prioritizing, multi-tasking, staying calm under pressure and meeting deadlines. Among the many excellent skills I’ve cultivated throughout my extensive employment record, I would count my efficiency and accuracy most highly. I’m adept at producing documents and reports; using online platforms for transmission of information and communication; managing schedules, rotas and calendars; building websites and generating online content; handling correspondence; building immediate rapport within teams and with collaborators; documenting processes; and providing creative, solution-based support to my peers. Complementing this are an outstanding quality of written and spoken English, a highly professional demeanor, and a conscientious, compassionate and warm personality.
I’d also love to share with you my deep love for animals and nature, which is carried through in everything that I do. With devotion, I follow developments and discoveries within this subject and I love spending time immersing myself first hand in the natural world, through travelling and exploring. I’m inspired by the work of organizations who encapsulate the ideals of cooperative models, permaculture and regenerative culture, and who are working with New Paradigm principles; who are pioneering new ways of connecting people and the planet. I’m in absolute alignment with contemporary feelings about the natural world and the future of our planetary ecosystem, as this is an epochal concern that I share with many, and a strong focal point of my own writing, video, film and photography work. I am confident and inspired to share this passion with all the people I work with.
Colorful & Nourishing Plant-based Cooking
Having spent a lot of my life creating and working in kitchens, I believe I’d be a more than decent fit for any vegan kitchen! I’ve worked in supporting roles in a diverse array of environments, from coffee shops to festival cafes to retreat centers, recently moving my way up and working for a spell as a Sous Chef at the Tobacco Factory (Bristol). In this busy theatre cafe I was cooking colorful multifaceted dishes fresh and from scratch, while helping to manage a team and run the kitchen to excellent standards. Working at the Tobacco Factory was a fantastic experience; every day I got to cook with amazing ingredients from their plots at Five Acre Farm, and the kitchen itself faces out into an atmospheric music venue where both local and touring acts play every weekend. The Tobacco Factory also hosts an al fresco courtyard pizza kitchen and a juice bar.
I’ve also worked as a prep chef at Hawkwood (Stroud). Hawkwood is a hub for education and home to the Centre for Future Thinking and the Seed Festival. At Hawkwood, we’re also home to Stroud Community Agriculture. Hawkwood boasts a garden and orchard that’s abundant all year round with incredible produce, which we care for using bio-dynamic and organic practices. There’s nothing I love more than spending time in the garden picking rhubarb, apples, pears, grapes, figs, berries, edible flowers, herbs and our variety of amazing vegetables, which I bring back into the kitchen to be transformed into fine, nourishing meals for our guests.
What’s more, I’ve worked as a creative chef/cook at my friends cafe, Cafe Gohan, an organic vegan Japanese pop-up cafe, at the Green Gathering Festival; with the vegan, raw, organic cafe Beets N Roots in Bristol; and at the festival cafe Foodie Forager, where every plate is made up from organic, super fresh, localized, wild ingredients. I have also worked as a chef and cook on a voluntary basis while traveling in Italy and Ireland, working on permaculture projects and in Buddhist communes. As of November 2019 I worked as a Chef and Kitchen Manager at John Street Kitchen at Stroud Valley’s Art Space, delivering delicious, freshly cooked brunches using ingredients from the towns renowned Farmers Market.
I’m able to make beautiful espresso coffees and ‘super lattes’ using fresh chai, turmeric, beetroot, matcha and coconut charcoal to an excellent standard, as I’m barista trained. Mine is a passion for coffee culture from all around the world, and a love for elegant, nourishing and creative plant-based food that stimulates your senses, nurtures your body and mind, and makes your soul smile. Cooking intuitively is where I feel most at home, following my instincts with flavour and colour, and using my compulsion for detail to make my dishes look beautiful. I draw inspiration from cultures the globe over, but plant-based cooking is my most loved food culture and I am passionate about the cleansing, medicinal, healing potential of food, as well as eating being an energizing, pleasurable experience. I’m capable of working independently as well as collaboratively, and using my creativity to come up with exciting ideas for menus. It would be a true pleasure to bring this with me as a contribution to any vegan venture.
Holistic Health, Healing & Wellness
Taking place alongside my developing career in media and arts events production, I’m conducting training as an arts psychotherapist, with my subject of focus being humanistic and existential practice and philosophy, as well as Roberto Assagioli’s psychosynthesis. I’m initiating my own research and exploration of different approaches to holistic health, encompassing elements of naturopathy, meditation, dance/movement/somatics, arts practices and breathwork. As an artist I am always questioning what I can do with my skillset and my creativity to contribute positively to the world around me. There are a lot of difficulties and problems to be met and managed in the world, and I am concerned with helping where I can. The act of healing or helping within a community can be a performative act, as well as a creative one, and in fact we could argue that the origins of creative expression and art lie in healing, with songs, poems, stories and dances being enacted in ritual manner both privately and communally to heighten the emotions. Virtually every culture on earth holds this tradition, and it makes sense, especially considering what we now know from science about the connection between mind and body and the importance of keeping emotions sound. It especially interests me to work with people who are experiencing loneliness, disconnection from nature and community, depression and stress. What I’m aiming for is an integrative healing practice that incorporates drama therapy, art therapy, sound and voice work, writing, visualization and meditation, movement/dance and powerful plant-based nutrition and energy.
I’m currently writing a blog/journal called ‘Rambling Medicine’. It’s primarily a space for documentation and reflection as I develop my practice, train and work my way towards gaining accreditation. It’s also a space where, through short-form essays and discussion, I will respond to contemporary topical concerns about individual and collective health and wellbeing – and how these vitals are profoundly connected to the good health, nurturing and nourishment of our natural environment. I will examine and discuss my passion for holistic ways of working, and humanistic and existential philosophy and the therapeutic methodologies that have their roots in these nuanced, exciting systems of thought. Thank you so much for reading my introduction. I would love to hear from you if you have any vacancies suitable to my skills.
