Bristol Hospitality Network (BHN) started in 2009 with a very specific aim in mind: to extend solidarity toward destitute asylum seekers (our ‘members’) through the provision of accommodation. Today we have grown to provide community involvement and volunteering opportunities to our members and other refugees in the city of Bristol.
Our accommodation provision is made up of an 11-bed house in Fishponds, Bristol (housing 10 members and one member-host couple) and a host network of 11 houses and four rooms in partner accommodation, for 30 members (42 members housed in total). We also deliver a weekly drop-in on a Monday, which provides a hot meal for c.100, alongside English classes, a barber, engaging activities (sewing, art, music and games), our MIND listening volunteers and a safe, relational community. Finally, we also provide support on asylum claims via our HELP Team, which is run by our paid manager and five volunteers, two of which are OISC Level 3 trained.
