Can Do Bristol has changed.

We've made lots of change and lots of improvements with more to come.

We've launched some pretty major updates to the Can Do Bristol platform to improve how the website looks and works.

What’s changed?

A lot! You will still be able to volunteer and share ideas but now you can also create team spaces to plan and deliver community projects. We will also be introducing a timebank later in the year. How the website looks is very different too.

What do I need to do?

All websites take a little time to become familiar with so have a good play around to get used to where everything is and what you can do. If you registered on the old platform, there are really just two things you need to do as follows:

If you have registered on our previous platform, you will be required to reset your password when you try to sign into your account for the first time. This is to make the site more secure. Follow the instructions on screen. We’ve included them below:

  • Go to https://candobristol/password/reset.
  • Type in your account email.
  • Click “Send password reset link”.
  • Check your email inbox (including junk and spam folders).
  • Click the link in the email.
  • Type in your new password (try to use something secure but memorable).
  • Log in to your account.

If you have a problem resetting your email, we’ve included a few common issues:

I’m getting an error message when adding my email address:

“Sorry there was a problem with trying to reset your password. Please contact your community manager.”

If you see this message it means the system hasn’t recognised your email. Here are a few reasons why this might happen and how to get around them:

  1. You mis-typed your email or used the wrong email.
Double check the latest email from the website and make sure you have added the right email address. Then double check the spelling.

  2. You signed up with your social account (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin or Google+).
If you signed up with any of these accounts you’ll need to sign in with your username. If you have forgotten your username or aren’t sure, please email support@madeopen.co.uk with your name.

We’ve improved how profiles look and added in the ability to set up Best Match preferences. Here’s how to set up your new profile and get the most out of Can Do Bristol:

a. Tell others a bit about you

Add your profile image and a background image to make your profile stand out from the crowd. Follow the on-screen instructions to describe yourself, add in your social media accounts or allow other members to email you directly if you wish.

  • Log in and go to ‘My dashboard’.
  • Click ‘My profile’.
  • Fill in the info and scroll down to ‘Save changes’.

Alternatively click this link: https://candobristol.co.uk/dashboard/public

b. Set up your Best Match preference

The Best Match feature matches you to activities and members that are most relevant to you. Save your neighbourhood, skills and interests to your profile. Then simply click on the Best Match button when searching for activities or members and it will show you matching results.

If you like, you can choose to publicly display your Best Match preferences on your profile - letting other members to learn more about you.

  • Log in and go to ‘My dashboard’.
  • Click ‘My profile’.
  • Click ‘Set up best match preferences’.
  • Select your options then scroll down to click ‘Save changes’. Once saved scroll down to choose which options by moving the toggle to public - click ‘save changes’.

Alternatively click this link: https://candobristol.co.uk/dashboard/best-match

Good luck and remember, for queries relating to Can Do Bristol, including any recommendations for this platform, please message Nic, Ricardo or Keith.
