About

My Wild City Project

My Wild City is a collaborative conservation project between Avon Wildlife Trust and Bristol City Council (funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund).

Bristol is an amazingly green city with a wealth of local wildlife sites that provide a refuge for a huge range of animals and plants: important pollinating insects, rare birds, protected reptiles and mammals. Many of these sites represent remenants of fragmented countryside and also provide us with an escape from the pressures of city life.

My wild city aims to connect people to nature through practical conservation work, ecological training, community engagement through wildlife themed events and programmes for local schools to encourage nature focussed learning.

We want to hear from anyone who has a local connection to any of the sites we are currently working on, plus anybody who wants to get involved in local nature conservation in Bristol in general. The 8 sites we are focussed on are:

Dundry Slopes, Hartcliffe

Hengrove Mounds & Hawkfield Meadow, Hengrove

Stockwood Open Space

Northern Slopes, Knowle

Dundridge Woodland, Hanham

Coombe Brook Valley, Clay Hill/Speedwell

Saltmarsh Drive Open Space, Lawrence Weston

Lawrence Weston Moor
