For people recovering from illness, or who are facing a recent diagnosis, being able to stay in their own home can make all the difference.
Our Support at Home Volunteers help with shopping, getting to appointments or checking in with a phone call. Spread the power of kindness with us and help make a difficult and distressing time a little bit easier.
Coming home from hospital can be overwhelming. A warm home, a stocked fridge, and a friendly face can mean the world to someone recovering. As a volunteer, you’ll help people feel safe, supported, and cared for during a vulnerable time.
Whether it’s picking up a prescription, helping with essential shopping, or simply checking the heating is on—you’ll be offering more than just practical help. You’ll be offering peace of mind. We also offer in hospital support too if this is something you are interested in.
We would like you to:
- Be available to volunteer on a regular basis.
- Minimum of 2 hours a week commitment, service operating times 10am-8pm, 7 days a week.
- Have held a driving licence for at least 2 years which allows you to drive in the UK and have access to your own vehicle, and be willing to drive a British Red Cross vehicle.
- Be able to commit to volunteering for a minimum of 12 months.
