Manor Woods Valley is a gem among south Bristol’s many lovely green spaces. It includes the Local Nature Reserve, Manor Woods Orchard and Old Quarries. It has woodlands, wildflower meadows, open parkland, an orchard and the middle stretch of the Malago.
The Manor Woods Valley Group acts as the ‘friends’ group for Manor Woods Valley and works closely with Bristol Council’s Parks Department to help maintain and develop it for the benefit of wildlife and people.
The Group is made up entirely of volunteers who run conservation activities such as clearing encroaching Brambles, sowing and planting wildflowers, coppicing and tree planting. We also organise events such as family nature activities, guided walks and talks.
We are looking for a new volunteer to join our friendly team to help us raise awareness of Manor Woods Valley through photos and stories.
The volunteer will be confident using Instagram (or be willing to self-teach). They will set up an account and curate content by collecting their own photos and regram-ing others taken by members of the community. We hope they will also be able to attend some of our events to do stories and share live content too.
We hope that utlising a new social media platform will help us engage with a more diverse audience, particularly young people, which will help us to continue to protect the park for future generations.
You will need access to your own smart phone to use instagram and take photos.
